Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Railways, is the IT wing of the Indian Railways with state-of-the-art infrastructure at New Delhi and having regional data centers at New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Secunderabad, Kolkata, Patna and Gorakhpur. CRIS is engaged in the development, implementation and maintenance of many major computer applications, including the renowned computerized Passenger Reservation System and Freight Operations System of Indian Railways.

Towards this end, we provide with superior training and the opportunity to work in challenging software projects architectures, designed based on CASE tools, development of highly scalable and fault tolerant (24X7) OLTP, Business Intelligence and Data Ware housing, E-commerce, Embedded, Mobile applications, Infrastructure Management with pre-defined Uptime SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and service practices on the latest technology platforms like Solaris, AIX, Linux, Open VMS, Microsoft Windows, J2EE, C++, .NET, Rational suite, middle wares like HP-RTR, BEA Tuxedo, RDBMS-SYBASE/ORACLE/SQL/SYBASE ASA/ Ultralite server, Application servers, Automated testing tools like Rational Robot, Checkpoint Firewalls and VPNs.

Scale of Pay:


The post is in the scale Rs.6500-10500. Candidates will be eligible for other benefits such as Dearness Allowance, Dearness Pay, City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Transport Allowance and House Rent Allowance. The total emoluments work out to Rs.2.5 lakhs per annum. In addition, they will be entitled to LTC, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Encashment, Gratuity and personal insurance as per Rules of CRIS.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics or Electronics & Communication or Computer Science & Engineering or Computers with not less than 60% marks for General Category and not less than 55% marks in the case of SC/ST/OBC categories.
Experience:
One year experience after acquiring the above qualification as on 30th June, 2006 in one or more of the following areas.
  • Networks based on TCP/IP Protocol Suite.
  • 100 Base TX, 100/1000 Base TX/FX based LANs and VLANs.
  • IP Routing protocols like RIP, OSPF using Routers/ Layer 3 switches.
  • WANs based on E1/Fractional E1 leased lines, ISDN, VSAT based satellite links, IP/Frame-Relay based VPNs.
  • Installation and Maintenance of network Routing, Switching and Security devices.
  • SNMP/RMON based Network Management Systems.
The experience of one year will be reckoned from the date of issue of final marks list or provisional certificate or final degree certificate whichever is earlier. Candidates are requested to give their post qualification experience from the above date.
Vacancy:
Vacancies exist at Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Secunderabad, Bhubaneswar and Port Blair. Selected candidates can be posted at any of the above mentioned centers. Those candidates interested for posting in Port Blair may specifically mention the fact in their online application.
SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE POSTS:
The Written test of the eligible candidates will be conducted followed by interview of the successful candidates in the written examination. Choice of Centre of written examination will be Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Secunderabad. The Centre of examination will be decided based on the number of candidates opting for each centre. Date and Centre of the examination will be advised separately.
Fees :
Demand draft of Rs. 500/- for General Category , and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates drawn in favor of C.R.I.S. payable at New Delhi.

Submission of Demand Draft & other documents:

After online registration, Demand Draft and other documents i.e. attested copies of educational qualifications, experience certificate and caste may be sent by ordinary post to P O Box No.2282, Chanakyapuri Post Office, New Delhi 110021, so as to reach latest by 12th May,2006.

General Information :
1. The appointment is on contract basis initially for a period of five years, including one year probation. The appointment is likely to continue further based on the performance/ requirement.
2. The reservation policy will apply as per Govt. of India rules.

3. Send the Demand Draft, Educational and Caste Certificates along with a copy of Registration Slip to Post Box No. 2282, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi-110021 before 12th May 2006. Also keep a copy of Registration Slip with yourself for future reference.
4. Online Form will be available only between 8th April 2006 and 1st May 2006. However you can reprint your registration slip till 12th May 2006.
