  Sybase Database Administrator
Job Title:  Sybase Database Administrator w/Top Secret Clearance – Boulder, CO
Job Type: Contract employee of BPTS with time-off benefits, 401 (k); 1-5+ years
Location:  Boulder, CO
 
Description:
Database Administrator who collaborates with Depot Database Engineers to ensure the operational databases are maintained such that databases are highly available. This includes enhancing database scripts to better support operational users.
The Candidate in this full time position shall implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization. 
 
Responsibilities include: database loading; development and management of operational procedures; environment management; database health (e.g. monitoring, proactive and reactive responses); resource planning; database upgrade planning; backup and recovery strategy planning and implementation; environment transition planning (development, test, stage, production).
 
Required Skills: 
Expert knowledge of Sybase relational database systems 
Knowledge of AIX, IRIX and Solaris operating systems 
Knowledge of building a Sybase server 
Unix Scripting development skills including PERL & PERL/Tk 
Familiarity with DDTS, DOORS, Clearcase, LDAP, and SNMP
 
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of SW development methodology, lifecycle and process
